GoFundMe for Eagle Project - Thomas A.

Posted on Dec 18 2024 - 8:28pm

For my Eagle Project, I am building 3 shako racks for the Troy High School Marching Band. The band just acquired new helmets and has no way to transport them. With these racks, the band will be able to transport both helmets and shakos wherever they need to.

Please help support my Eagle project.

2026 High Adventure - Philmont Scout Ranch

Posted on Oct 23 2024 - 6:27pm

Dear Troop Families,

  • High Adventure 2026- Philmont Scout Ranch

    • Yes, you read that correctly. It is already time to start talking about 2026 High Adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch. Backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch is considered to be one of the most rewarding experiences as a scout and scouter.

    • Reservations for high adventure at Philmont start at least 18 months prior to the actual trek!! Our troop has secured 2 treks for the summer of 2026

      • Each trek is required to have a minimum of 3 adults (over 21 years) and a  maximum of 9 scouts for a total of 12 crew members.

      • Arrival date at Philmont - June 27th 2026

      • Departure date from Philmont - July 9th 2026

    • All scouts and adults who want to learn more about this awesome adventure are requested to attend the troop meeting on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 for a brief presentation.

    • After this presentation, initial signups will be posted on the troop website to gauge interest for this 2026 high adventure trek. Detailed training plans for training hikes and overnight backpacking treks will be provided around May/ June 2025 so families have enough time to plan for this adventure.

    • Pictures from Troop 235 treks at Philmont in 2022 are available on our troop website here. All 3 treks that attended had a great time at Philmont.

    • If a scout or adult has any questions about Philmont, they are welcome to reach out to me at pankaj.swami@gmail.com or 714-399-6263.

2024 Tree Lot Lead Scout Application

Posted on Oct 22 2024 - 3:09pm

Attention Prospective Lead Scouts:

The Tree Lot Managers are accepting inquiries for those that desire to take on Lead Scout positions for this upcoming 2024 Tree Lot Season.  As you may know, this position provides additional leadership incentive for Scouts that have worked a select number of Tree Lots, and show the desire to lead other Scouts in those positions.

 The Tree Lot manager will be appointing selected Lead Scouts from the Scouts previously signed up in a given shift, based upon those that apply and are approved for the position. Requirements and application process are as follows.

 Requirements to fulfill a Lead Scout Position:

 1.  By the cut-off date, the Scout must hold the rank of Star or higher;

 2.  The Scout must have worked a minimum of two prior Tree Lot seasons;

 3.  The Scout must follow the application process below.

 Application process:

By the cut-off date of midnight on October 31, 2024, respond to the following questions via email to

The Tree Lot Managers (TreeLotManagers@Troop235.com) and CC your parent:

      1.   How many Tree Lot seasons you have worked;

      2.  Whether you have previously worked as Lead Scout and what adversity did you face in that position, and how you overcame it or if you have not worked as Lead Scout, explain what adversity might you face, and how will you prepare for it;

      3.  Each Leadership position you have held as part of the Troop and what you learned from each position you have held;

      4.  What you think is the best thing and worst thing about working Tree Lot and how you would do to improve what you determined was the worst thing;

      5.  What you would like to see changed as part of Tree Lot;

      6.   How would you best manage the use of the staplers by the Scouts to ensure there are always staplers available;

      7.  What would be your plan on those shifts during which you would hold the Lead Scout position (things to consider: how you would staff the Scouts that you were leading, how to ensure the trees were watered, how to ensure trees were tagged, loading trees onto cars, how you would best provide customer service to our customers).

      8.   Additional considerations that we should take into account, including OA Participation, ILST, NYLT participation/graduation, or other training or leadership in Scouting and outside of Scouting.

 The managers reserve the right to hold individual meetings with those that respond to the foregoing and indicate their interest in holding a Lead Scout position to discuss the position further.  Scouts are encouraged to express their interest early, as the Managers will be creating a final approved list as soon as possible and will be assigning Lead Scout spots as soon as scheduling occurs.  Applying does not guarantee that you will be granted a Lead Scout position, as the managers will be determining selections based on number of applications, seniority in the Troop, answers to questions and past performances during Tree Lot positions.

 Yours In Scouting
